So last night I was reading and looking into a religious perspective... I think I'm starting to understand mine better... but I'm not going to say what I feel about it... but I was compelled to know what people believed and so on my FB I posted a status
"Currently looking into all the different perspectives of religion and the believers.. Maybe I need to look into different perspectives other than Catholicism, Mormonism and Atheism.. all a lil on the extremist side =D tell me what you believe ;D"
And sure I did receive some responses by I think people thought I was conflicted with my religion. Well Christianity is basically believing in the same God or that we are saved by the son "Jesus Christ"... but what's the purpose of conversion? To guess and figure out which is the true Religion?.... How does one go about figuring this out... just praying? and expecting and answer... how can they specify if all of a sudden you're followed by people trying to convert you...But, if we base it on Christianity we have: Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Episcopal, Seventh-Day Adventist, Mormon - Latter Day Saints, Methodist.... And Jehova's Witnesses (At they Christian too?) Not sure but for some reason the Jevovah Witnesses always follow me.... maybe it's just hard for me to be mean and turn down their little books. I figured that accepting a prayer and letting them pray wouldn't do me harm and in fact they would keep a positive outlook in life of people.
What are the differences between these different branches in Christianity??? I guess it's something I can probably find in a theology course or major? but, why if I can ask you all...
Someone else mentioned Buddhism, and I have Jewish friends but they didn't respond, and you have so many others religions too ...
If we're following under the "Lord's Teaching" does it matter what interpretation "Humans" made to have followers just as long as they're following the Gospel? Wouldn't "God" be pleased? Isn't enough people are trying to live by the word of some "God" or is it that if we're not in the right religion we can't be saved? Where does that leave Atheism and other none believers? Do they automatically go to Hell (if it even exists)... Well we all know super natural shit occurs but is it God and Devil related or how can we explain that phenomena... how about all those appearances made in which many people have witnessed -Jesus ot even the Virgen Mary... How can those be explained? Would you believe if you saw those? What about the bleeding statues? What's up with that?
Well since I posed that question.... I must have left a friend puzzled... She send me a message on FB chat... and like any convo the "hi's" the "HOw are you's?" and "how is my son" all the basic... well I hadn't really spoken much to her since we went to the service for a friend who passed in October... and then she says it... but I knew it was coming ,
"for some reason I can't your question/post out of my head"
but since sometimes I post a lot of stuff and meaningless for that matter so I had to ask, "which one the religion one?"
- (H)er- yea
- Rey- haha... that was my intent actually"
- H- "I was trying to figure out why
- and the only conclusion I came to was
- to invite you to the retreat"
- Rey- "aww.. thanks! My mom has been trying to get me to go for the longest"
- H- "I normally don't ask people cuz I don't want them to feel like I'm pushing anything on them"
- Rey "it's not that I'm questioningmy faith
- I would love to go but I don't feel comfortable going yet
- awww... you're so sweet darling!"
- H "thanks lol
- can I ask y?"
- Rey "why what?"
- And to be frank I was hoping she wasn't going to ask me why... in my head .... maybe I'm a lil close minded but all that was popping in my head was "brain washing" My mom and dad have been trying to push me to go... even though I'm a good Catholic. I confess and do communion and I believe... I don't feel comfortable with people in general and not when they're singing and praising and I can't let go... I feel more comfortable standing around even if the whole room is jumping and being rowdy... specially in those instances...
- H "you feel you're not ready?"
- Rey because it feels like a commitment I don't want yet
- H I see
- Rey I know it sounds shallow
- but it's been something in my mind for a while
- and yea I've been wanting to go on my own terms and you asking is actually great but I wasn't expecting to
- be called to it so soon (like I said people have been trying, it's not the calling it the commitment I don't
- want)
- H I don't think it's shallow at all
- trust me I understand
- H I told my nina I would go to shut her up
- and really had no intentions to go
- I was mad when I went because I only went cuz she told me she had already paid for me
- so of course I felt obligated
- but that was 3 years ago and I've been working them ever since lol.
- Rey yea I know...
- and actually to be honest I've become a much more devout person in the last few months
- but as much as a retreat sounds great and I know I will enjoy it... I still feel like it's brainwashing...
- I don't mean to be rude or anything
- I mean, I believe there is a God.. and I'm sure that post actually made people uncomfortable exist an athiest
- friend I have
- lol
- H lol
- it didn't make me uncomfortable
- I have a friend who was athiest and it changed him as well
- I just felt like I (for some reason)
- that I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't mention it to you lol
- H I widh I had a better explanation lol.. but I don't
- wish*
- Rey yea no I understand
- when you feel compelled to do something it's always better to do it, you know
- I'll tell you what I'll consider it... how about that?
- H Next one is June 17-19 if you decide you want to go please let me know asap.
- :)
- Rey ok darling
- oh actually I can't
- my bros graduate on the 15th
- and since it's their birthday too we're throwing them a grad/bday party on that saturday
- H it's ok.. we have them every 3 months so I will let you know when the next 1 is later
- :)
- Rey ok darling
Shouldn't God be happy we follow religion period?
